I have done quite a lot of study on ICE. For those who are new to the word of ICE, it's actually stand for In Car Entertainment. On my previous ICE upgrade, I have changed my HU to Pioneer 4050. Then, I started to learn and study more on component speaker, crossover passive and active, 4 channel amp, subwoofer and lots more. Little by little I gain knowledge from various website. I also learn which product to stay away, entry level, high quality and competition level.
I am more into SQ person rather than SPL. Just today I learn how and what do they mean by bridging 2 channels to one to drive my sub. This will gain more power to drive hungry powered sub.
I COD with LYN forumer a 10" subwoofer by Infinity today. He sold off his used unit of sub that came with PVC woofer box for quite a bargain. He gave me to test 3 days money back guaranteed. Here is the sub spec.
Speaker system Speaker Type: Passive
Nominal (RMS) Output Power: 250 Watt Max (RMS) Output Power: 1000 Watt Response Bandwidth: 22 - 800 Hz Sensitivity: 90 dB Connectivity Technology: Wired Speaker system details Speakers Included: 1 x car subwoofer - 250 Watt - 22 - 800 Hz - 4 Ohm - wired Driver Details: Car subwoofer : 1 x subwoofer driver - 10" Cutout & mounting dimensions Diameter: 9.3 in Depth: 5.5 in
Info: Infinity Reference 1020w
It's important for us to know the nominal RMS instead of peak RMS when purchasing a sub. I hope that my amp could able to drive this sub without problem. It's better if driven by monoblock or a separate 2 channel amp to give more power. So far, no comment on this item yet as I haven’t even installs it. I need to bridge 3rd and 4th channel to drive this sub as 1st and 2nd channel utilized by front component set. Here is my complete ICE set.
HU : Pioneer DEH P4050UB Front Component : JBL Rear : Kenwood 3 Way KFC 1687 Amplifier : Dynaquest 4 channels Subwoofer : Infinity Reference 1020w Cable : Autobahn |
