Good bye 2008

Just before Year 2008 slip pass me, here to wish everyone Happy New Year 2009. Remember well that recession gonna hit us hard soon. What a great welcoming into Year 2009.

Erm, I am in the office right now. I got a New Year 'gift' yesterday from my 'beloved' company. A Quad Core PC that is so goddamn fast. Even when I am just about to click on the mouse, it's already done. Unfortunately, the main unit processor = my brain, only has a 333 MHz Pentium II chip. It seems that my company is expecting me to work 4 times faster since it's a Quad Core processor. I told my friends in MSN that we now can chat up to 4 times faster. LOL.

This will be the last blog entry for year 2008. So what have I accomplished in year 2008? Well, the major one should be my Honda City lor. Haha. Others you can just read all over again in my blog la. Wahaha.

Bye......

Cameron Highland Trip Part 3

Day 3 (8th December 2008)

Today we woke up and felt sad as it's our last day here in Cameron Highland. We really enjoyed the cold and relaxing weather here. Without wasting our time, we continued our last day journey to Tanah Rata. We reached Smokehouse around 11am and took a lot of photo here. They have won award for being the best hotel garden. It cost a fortune to stay or eat here. We had our lunch at Rosette Café, Tanah Rata. I remember blogging it out on my last visit there in Friendster saying that their curry mee are so nice that we bought a loaf of bread to dip and eat it with the remaining curry. Today, after a spread of more than 2 years, I would say maybe on that time, my expectation is low or perhaps they no longer making nice curry mee. Who know if they have changed their chef in this two years time?

Smokehouse

After lunch our heartfelt so heavy to go back to KL. We talk about next day working make us extremely demotivated. Then, we started to dare each other to take another day leave although we have not applied for leave tomorrow. Mutual agreed alas and we were so happy to spend another day in CH. Haha. We reached our next destination at Rose Valley at 1.45pm. There is various kind of roses here such as red, pink, yellow, white, colour u name it.

Rose Valley Center

We checked in Hotel Rainbow at 5.00pm and it only cost us Rm90 per night on non peak season. This hotel looks costly, clean and 2 times much better than Chua Gin Hotel. We rest in our hotel and later took our dinner at 7.00pm in Restaurant Jew May Yen. Another lousy cook at this restaurant. I wonder why most of CH restaurant couldn't cook properly. I would say the pasar malam food taste better than the entire restaurant here.

Buat buat busy

After our dinner, we went to pasar malam and bought sweet corn again. Seriously, you won’t get bored with their CH corn. SMS and called our HOD to inform them that we will take another leave tomorrow before watching movie and calling it a day.

Pioneer DEH P4050UB

I bought my car that come preinstalled with Kenwood KDC 5026 with 10pcs CD Changer. It's a 2006 model. The background light is visible and at day light, it's hard to see the display. Why is the display so important to me? Guess what? My car doesn't have any clock. So basically, I need to depend on the HU (Head Unit) for time. I was browsing thru LYN and I thought it's time to change a new HU. So I did a researched and found out that the best value for money player is Pioneer. My previous ride is also using Pioneer player too.

Kenwood KDC 5026

I was considering 3050, 4050, 5050 and 6050. What I want is a good insensitive cd player that can read any Jack Sparrow cds, USB, IPod, features and the most important is simple design. At last I have chosen Pioneer DEH P4050UB as my new HU. 5050 and 6050 is way over my budget though their design is better.

Pioneer DEH P4050UB

I love the Segmented OEL display as it's very bright and clear. You can view from any angle. The blue colour display and button really stands out at night. Here are some of the main features.

Segmented OEL (Organic EL) Display
Direct Aux
USB 2.0
Ipod
Bluetooth
Advance Sound Retriever
Bass Boost
EEQ
- 5 mode preset EQ
- 2 way Crossover
Rotary Commender with Key List
3 RCA pre-out

I install it today at Layang Auto Accesories shop at Shah Alam. It has warranty card from Pioneer technology Malaysia for a year. The only downside at Layang accessories shop is 4 or 5 staff here and each of them came nagging me to buy speaker, amp, component, cable not big enough or power source not enough. All of them saying need to add/change this and that. Anyway, I managed to declined them gently saying I am over budget. Market price selling at Rm650 at most of the auto accessories shop. Let's just say I got it a little cheaper than that plus I sold the old HU at Rm250 to my colleague.

Cameron Highland Trip Part 2

Day 2 (7th December 2008)

We woke up at 9.30am today and headed to Cameron Tea for our English breakfast. Order a Chicken Pie, a kaya puff, scones and teh tarik. The view is simply astonishing. Eating breakfast, drinking tea, cold breezing weather and near perfect scenery. What’s more could you ask for? How I wish I could be here every single day. It's so relaxing here. Spend nearly 2 hours here taking photo and video. We shot a nice 'documentary video' about Cameron tea here.

Nice scenery at Cameron Tea.

We had our lunch around 12.15pm at Tringkap, a small town without many visitors here. We just want to have a hot noodle soup and Teh C on such a cold weather. It was raining nonstop since yesterday. We then continued our journey to Watercress Valley. Ordered watercress tea with honey and it taste good too. Anyhow, I still prefer to drink watercress soup rather than tea. It's rather scenetic there too.

Pork Noodle at Tringkap, Watercress Valley

After negotiating sharp and narrow corner uphill, we reached Boh Tea Center at 2pm. This is my first visit here. Last time in year 2006, I and my friends are supposed to visit Boh Tea but end up half way journey only as its kinda jam and we need to check out hotel soon. There is only a single word that can describe the scenery of Boh Tea Center. 'Heavenly!'. We ordered Boh Tea Mango flavor and a bowl of mushroom soup. The view is simply greenly nature of beautiful. The scenery is so relaxing that you feel like you wanted to stay here forever. The weather is so cold and I guess the temperature could be somewhere around 16C. We simply spend our best 2 hours here. I would say going downhill on the narrow and winding road with car and busses going uphill using the same single lane is kinda challenging.

Boh Tea Center

We visited Cactus Point around 5pm and took some photo before our Canon camera gave up. Battery juice totally flattens out. Spend only half an hour here before heading back to Chua Gin hotel to have a rest. Later at night, we ate steamboat as our dinner around 9pm at You Hoo Restaurant. Tasteless is what I will describe on their steamboat. In fact, most of the steamboat in Cameron is rather tasteless but still packed with tones of peoples. The best is to DIY steamboat if you are in a group of 4 people as buying raw vegetable here is dirt cheap. I remembered seeing 18 packets of various kind of vege selling only for Rm10 at Rose Center.

Cactus Point and You Hoo Steamboat

We ended our day by going to night market buying pearl sweet corn again and strawberry & peppermint ice cream. Thumbs up for the ice cream. Cheap and nice.

Cameron Higland Trip Part 1

Day 1 (6th December 2008)

We stop over to have our breakfast at Pun Chun restaurant at Bidor, Perak around 9.30am. This restaurant is rather famous for its duck noodles and ‘Siew Bao’. I ordered herbal duck drumstick noodles while Daph ordered Pai Kut noodles. The Pai Kut is a letdown but the herbal duck is damn delicious bootilicious cowabanga. The feel of eating this bowl of duck noodle was exactly the same I had on 20th October 2006. Yup, I was there 2 years back with my friends. I love it so much. Besides that, we ordered the famous freshly bake 'Siew Bao'. What a nice breakfast we had! Not to mention the sweet seedless guava selling outside Pun Chun is a heaven made too.

Pun Chun Restaurant

After the scrumptious breakfast, we continued our journey to Simpang Pulai toll before going up Cameron Highland. I would have use Tapah road that will pass thru Lata Iskandar waterfall if it's not raining season. There is a lot of news lately on landslide. After careful consideration, I choose Simpang Pulai road as it's safer and easier to drive uphill. We reached Brinchang and check in at 12pm at Chua Gin hotel. The first room they gave us was a letdown so we ask them to change and add additional Rm60 to new block. It's acceptable for the new block of Chua Gin hotel. We had our tea time at Fong Lum Restaurant and the food taste bad. The hokkien mee seems a little uncooked and the bitter gourd soup are totally raw. It's just like they boiled the water first and later throw in the bitter gourd.

Fong Lum Restaurant

We walk around Brinchang and later to the pasar malam. Take a stroll along pasar malam and fun fair. We bought fried carrot cake, mee goreng, CH sweet potatoes, hot dog and the famous Cameron Highland pearl sweet corn. It's pricey at Rm2.50 per stick but the taste is so sweet that it can be eaten raw. Now that's what i called a sweet corn!

Cameron Pearl Sweet Corn.

Funfair
We ate at our hotel with the wheather estimated at 16-17C. By the way, it's raining since we arrived a CH non stop.
