I nearly lost my handphone to conned man!!!!!!!!!

Wow, what a nightmare! Yesterday got a guy call me and said wan to view my car. I was selling my Kancil away and advert at China Press. So this dude calls me and met me up at Subang Carefour.
He looked at my car and test drive and very satisfied. He wanted to buy for her sister and said how much less I can go. I advert for RM14,800 and he asks me for 14k. So I said I still got a potential buyer tomolo to view the car. So he up until 14.5k and said u nonnit give the buyer see liau.

He claim he will pay cash for me and wanted to give me deposit. I was a lil reluctant and said I will only accept his deposit if I confirm to sell to him. He calls up his sis and told her about this. So I said will contact him tomolo. While I was driving back he calls me again and said he really wanted my car as it looks still new. SO he offers me RM14,800. I was surprised and the same time happy for the offer.

Met him back at Subang Carrefour. So he call up his sister again and he said his sister wanted to view the car at sg Wang. Sense ntg amiss, he said his sister will draft out black and white and will give me Rm4,800 as deposit. He said he only got RM2.8k and her sister will give another Rm2k.

So he asks me to drive him up to sg Wang and we talk a lot in the car while going there. Told me he works as chef (Tai Chow) at old klang rd, driving Honda accord he bought for rm150k last 3 years. Then when I ask him about the car i wanted to buy and he call up his fren to ask about the car problem. He also tole me he got 3 children etc etc and he jes look like a normal nice guy.

The story kicks in here. Please take note!!!

We were to reach sg Wang when he calls up her sister to ask her to come down. (Claim her sister work there). But then suddenly line putus. So he told me his prepaid out of cash. So he borrows my phone and calls someone and said “Eh, top up RM100 for me. I am ah Teck la. Then he gave me back my phone. Sense nothing amiss, I continued my journey and when reached sg Wang, he ask me to drive around sg. Wang and claim he long time nv go and lost his way. The rd suppose can pass through but instead we go one round.

Then he asks me to slow down and ask me to borrow him phone as he phone not yet masuk credit. So I borrow him and straight away my thinking was is this dude wan to con my hp? I heard a lot of case ppl borrow phone and runaway. But then I think where it can be. I calm myself and suddenly he asks me to slow down. And he wants to get down the car. I can’t stop because there is car behind me. Suddenly he opens my door pretending he was talking to her sister to ask he down. Straight away I grab his hand and rampas back my Nokia E65. He jes look at me and said why why? I jes wan to call. I said u can go up and ask ur sister come down. And he walks off and disappears in sg. Wang.

My Phuket Trip 2008 (Day 3)

Day 3 (13th May 2008)

Today we woke up late around 9:30am. Took a bath and we decided to have breakfast at the restaurant in our resort. What a surprise when we were told that breakfast is included in our stay. Lucky us! They serve western breakfast. We then took the bike and head to a journey of discovering Phuket Island.

With a map that we got it free in the airport and done a 10 minute study in the morning when we woke up, we head to our first destination. Karon Beach. We reached Karon around 20 minute rides and it was a beautiful beach. How we wish to swim but time restrain us from doing so. Anyway, we enjoyed our 30 minute stop here in Karon Beach by relaxing on the windy beach. We were lying on the lazy chair along the beach when being approached by a Thai guy. He was asking us if we wanted to 'rent' the chair and the big umbrella for a day that cost 200baht. I was like WTF? Rm20 just to sit on the chair for one whole day? I decline his offer politely and he walks off smiling. We sat there for another 5 minute before continuing our journey. One thing about Thailand people is they are extremely polite, nice and I could say no 1 customer service. They have a good attitude. Seriously, we should learn from them. Wait until I tell you what we encountered later on and the definition of 'superb after sales service' in my blog.

Later we head to Karon View Point, a hill that overlooks the view of Karon beach. Nice place! We even bought a coconut and enjoyed it while looking at the beautiful scenery. I believe the landscape scenery will surely look splendid on sunrise and sunset.

Then we head to Kata Beach and later to Kata Noi Beach. This beach is rather isolated as there is not much tourist here. It could be the rock on the shore that turns down tourist here as they can't swim here. I find it quite fascinating by just watching and listening the sea wave hitting and splashing the rock.

We continue our journey to Promthep Cape which is the south end of Phuket. The view is equally great as at Karon View Point and this place is a little more tourist zone. There is souvenir, food, drinks and err... not quite a temple but kind of small worship place. We sat down at the highest of Promthep Cape and the wind is so strong that it feels like a gentle massage to your body. Simply astonishing!

After spending some quality time at Promthep Cape we continued to Rawai Beach. This beach has boat rental for fishing or to go out to local island. I stop by when I saw familiar dishes selling on the roadside. My favorite food 'otak-otak'! We bought a pack which consists of 5 sticks and cost 20baht. Opposite the roadside, there is a place for us to have our food. When I tear open the 'daun', I was disappointed as it is not otak otak but some kind of banana 'kuih' or something. Lol, and there goes my dream of eating 'otak-otak' in Thailand. We reached Wat Chalong around 2:00pm and visit the biggest temple in Phuket. Most of the temple looks more or less the same to me. Nicest temple still goes to Grand Palace in Bangkok. We had our lunch at local hawker just outside Wat Chalong. We ordered noodles soup to fill our stomach. (taste just like in Bangkok)

We reached Phuket town at 4:00pm. According to some LYN forumer, they said Phuket town has a better offer for souvenir than in Patong. This is the main reason why we were here. We thought to have a good price here but unfortunately, the price here is rather stiff and only bares a minimum price bargain. The people here are a little less friendly than in Patong. We visited a few streets before getting lost in the town. It's getting dark at 7:00pm and while looking at the map on hand, a local guy came to us and offers us for a help. He assist us the direction to Patong and we followed his direction but it came to a part where we decided to follow the road sign rather than his direction. Anyway, thumbs up for his kind gesture for helping us.

We reached our Club Coconut Resort around 8:00pm. We took a bath are later head to Patong road for seafood dinner at Cocoanut Restaurant. We ordered tiger prawn, a steam fish (quite big), oyster Thai salad, coconut milk Tom Yum Kung, and coconut shake. Damn satisfied with the meal and all this cost us 1200 baht. Their service is excellent from the moment you step in their restaurant. After we paid our bill, almost all their worker thanks us and one even lead us across the busy road. We spend about an hour looking and buying souvenir for our dear friends and colleague in Malaysia. When we go back to the place where we park our bike (in front of Cocoanut Restaurant) the worker came out and wipe the bike seat for us as it was raining earlier. He even pushes the bike out, start it for us and open road at the busy street for us to ride out. We are damn 'paiseh' and awkward at that time. I dun remember having this kind of service quality anywhere before. This is superb!

P/S: The close up shot picture coming to the fish part is totally drops as I am struggling with my concentration versus my saliva. Lol. So no close up shot for the steam fish.

We hunted for more souvenirs at Patong main road beach before calling it a day at 1:30am. Today journey of discovery Phuket is a success and simply amazing. Thumbs up for both of us. Oh yeah, my exposed skin totally burnout. I didn’t feel hot while riding bike and only get to know the red burn skin when came back to the resort. The sun is much stronger than we might think. So do remember to use sun block.

My Phuket Trip 2008 (Day 2)

Day 2 (12th May 2008)

Our van driver picks us up at 7.10am at Club Coconut. Then he picks the rest of the tourist (all caucasian) before heading to the pier. I would say that in Phuket, 80% of the tourist is caucasian, or better known as guai loh. We were supposed to go by Paradise 2000 cruise but changed to Sea Angel Cruise. Initially, we saw this cruise cost 750 baht at other tourist booking booth in Patong. The journey took us about 1 hour and 30 minute from Phuket pier to Phi Phi Island.

Then the cruise continued to go Maya Bay and stop there for snorkeling. I would say that Redang beats Maya Bay anytime. It's still a beautiful place netherless and we had our fun for about an hour here before heading to Phi Phi Island. This tour supposes to include Phi Phi Lair, Viking Caves and so on but due to the monsoon season, it was canceled. We then had our buffet lunch at Phi Phi Hotel. Erm, quite a lousy buffet I would say. We then walk around Phi Phi Island and surprisingly, we couldn’t find where the beautiful beach as illustrated in the brochure at all. All we could see is boat everywhere at the beach. Maybe it's at the back or further down to the island but time really restrains us from exploring more at Phi Phi Island. We only had 2 hour at here. Lunch already took us about 30-45min. On the way back to Phuket pier was a 2 hour horrible journey due to the monsoon wave and strong wind. Our cruise jump up and down nonstop for freaking 2 hours. It was a nightmare. Thank God, the cruise makes it safely to the pier.

The van transported us back to our Club Coconut Resort and we took a little rest in our room. Later at night, we went for dinner at Patong road. This time we ate Subway for our dinner as we didn't want to have an upset stomach after the horrible 2 hour journey. We later ride our bike here and there before stopping by at the happening street of Patong again. We even went to one and the only Patong shopping complex, Jungceylon. Nothing much here accepts someone trying to be funny with the metal chain ‘patung’. ^_^

We went back and call it a day around 11pm today. We were quite exhausted. Tomorrow we need to go bike riding!

My Phuket Trip 2008 (Day 1)

Currency: Baht100 = RM10.17~RM10.20
GMT: +7.00

Day 1 (11th May 2008)

Touchdown International Phuket Airport at 1.20pm (local time). The flight took us only 1 hour and 15 minute. The journey is rather near I would said. We walk to the taxi counter and was offered 550baht to Club Coconut Resort at Nanai road. It's a standard rate to go Patong area. When halfway to our hotel, the taxi stops at some tourist center and claim that he wanted to see his boss. Then suddenly, a lady came to greets and ask us whether we want to book any tour. I am puzzled at first but then everything came into sense. I read in LYN forum before that the taxi driver will drop us by their preferred tourist shop and trying their luck to get some commission from them. I told the lady we don’t want anything and she gave up. They even change a taxi driver and thank god, he sent us to our hotel straight.

Club Coconut Resort is where we are staying. I have read quite a number of negative reviews and seen a few picture of the resort. Thanks God, the place turn out to be nice and up to our par. I read in trip advisor saying their water tap stop flowing when taking shower and I guess they are right. There is once when the water stops flowing while Daphne taking shower and I had to find people to fix it. But it's not a big deal and later the water come running again. The guy from India did a checking and he found no problem on the water. I guess the water pump up rather slow until it completely stops for a while. Other than this, this resort is a pretty nice place to stay.

We booked a bike at the resort and it cost us 200baht per day. We paid for only 2 days and we used the bike for 4 days. The owner doesn’t seem to care much anyway. Study the map for a few minute and off we go. We went to pump petrol before going to Patong beach. For big petrol kiosk, it cost 33.80baht per litre and small kiosk cost us more around 45baht per litre. First time pump petrol in such a small hut. Lol. By the way, their petrol is rather expensive compare to Malaysia! At first we did a wrong turning to Kata Beach and make a U-Turn back to Patong. Later we are on the right track and reached Patong beach in just 10 minutes.

We hunted for our lunch and we stopped at Restaurant 99 for our first official meal. We ordered Tom Yum Kung, Phat Thai, Fried sotong and steam rice. The tom yum kung was awesome. Love it very much. Daphne loves the Phat Thai but it's only so-so for me. Cost us 465baht for our first meal. After the refreshing meal, we went to the beach and later trying to catch sunset. We took a few pictures there. Not a very nice sunset scene as it rather cloudy. Anyway, we are still satisfied. The weather is okay but there is some rain on and off. It rain fast and stop fast too. I would say within a few minute each rain. We book Phi Phi and Maya Island half day tour including lunch buffet. Paradise 2000 and it only cost us only 650baht per person. Rather cheap I would say. We estimated it to cost 1000baht per person.

Later we went back to our Club Coconut to take a shower and head out for dinner. Stop at a small shop and ate their 'chap fan'. We wanted to try their local food and it taste rather good. More or less like our chinese style cooking. Cost us 1450 altogether. Ain’t cheap for a chap fan with a bottle green tea and mineral water. Anyway, all their mineral water has a weird taste. We later walk around in Patong road and I can say it's a super happening place. Very good for night entertainment. We even had our massage and it only cost 250 baht per hour. Later on, we walk to the most happening adult entertainment street aka Bangla Road. There is a lot of pretty and super slim sexy 'girl' all around. You notice I put 'girl' as I really didn’t know if they are really a girl or just ah kua. Damn, we are so confused of the gender at Bangla Road. Daphne wanted to see tiger show but ended up there is only some dance on the pole and some boobs baring. Erm, I wouldn't want to go detail on a fugly woman who took photo with us. Yuck!

We call it a day and went back to our hotel around 1am as tomorrow we need to wake up at 6.30am Our pick up time to go Phi Phi Island is 7am. Zzzzz

Police road block at Patong!

There is an incident at 2nd day in Phuket at night. We had our fun time at Patong Beach lepaking there and decided to head back to Club Coconut at Nanai road (our hotel) at around 11pm. Ahead of us, there is police road block. Daphne was not wearing helmet and I was afraid we might get a ticket there. We rented a bike for 4 days at Phuket but there is only one helmet. Basically it goes like this.

Police: License.
Me: (nervous) I am from Malaysia..
Police: (doesnt seems to care) License, License..
So i show him my license..
Police: (looking and seems puzzled) I wan lisence!
Me: This is my license. Malaysia License. (I show him another one with photo)
He was looking for sometime and suddenly the policeman become friendly.
Polise: Ohh, you Malaysia.. You Kuala Lumpur?
Me: Yes yes, Kuala Lumpur.
Police: She is Malaysia? (pointing at Daphne)
Daphne: Yes yes, i am Malaysian.
Police: (seems to smiling now) Oh, okok..
Me: You go Kuala Lumpur before? (Trying to do a small chat hoping that he will never say anything about Daphne not wearing helmet)
He wanted to say something but i guess his english is limited edition)
Police: (smiling)Ok, go, go.
Me. Thank you...

Vroooommmmmmmm... We had a good laugh!
