Day 3 (13th May 2008)
Today we woke up late around 9:30am. Took a bath and we decided to have breakfast at the restaurant in our resort. What a surprise when we were told that breakfast is included in our stay. Lucky us! They serve western breakfast. We then took the bike and head to a journey of discovering Phuket Island.
With a map that we got it free in the airport and done a 10 minute study in the morning when we woke up, we head to our first destination. Karon Beach. We reached Karon around 20 minute rides and it was a beautiful beach. How we wish to swim but time restrain us from doing so. Anyway, we enjoyed our 30 minute stop here in Karon Beach by relaxing on the windy beach. We were lying on the lazy chair along the beach when being approached by a Thai guy. He was asking us if we wanted to 'rent' the chair and the big umbrella for a day that cost 200baht. I was like WTF? Rm20 just to sit on the chair for one whole day? I decline his offer politely and he walks off smiling. We sat there for another 5 minute before continuing our journey. One thing about Thailand people is they are extremely polite, nice and I could say no 1 customer service. They have a good attitude. Seriously, we should learn from them. Wait until I tell you what we encountered later on and the definition of 'superb after sales service' in my blog.
Later we head to Karon View Point, a hill that overlooks the view of Karon beach. Nice place! We even bought a coconut and enjoyed it while looking at the beautiful scenery. I believe the landscape scenery will surely look splendid on sunrise and sunset.

Then we head to Kata Beach and later to Kata Noi Beach. This beach is rather isolated as there is not much tourist here. It could be the rock on the shore that turns down tourist here as they can't swim here. I find it quite fascinating by just watching and listening the sea wave hitting and splashing the rock.

We continue our journey to Promthep Cape which is the south end of Phuket. The view is equally great as at Karon View Point and this place is a little more tourist zone. There is souvenir, food, drinks and err... not quite a temple but kind of small worship place. We sat down at the highest of Promthep Cape and the wind is so strong that it feels like a gentle massage to your body. Simply astonishing!

After spending some quality time at Promthep Cape we continued to Rawai Beach. This beach has boat rental for fishing or to go out to local island. I stop by when I saw familiar dishes selling on the roadside. My favorite food 'otak-otak'! We bought a pack which consists of 5 sticks and cost 20baht. Opposite the roadside, there is a place for us to have our food. When I tear open the 'daun', I was disappointed as it is not otak otak but some kind of banana 'kuih' or something. Lol, and there goes my dream of eating 'otak-otak' in Thailand. We reached Wat Chalong around 2:00pm and visit the biggest temple in Phuket. Most of the temple looks more or less the same to me. Nicest temple still goes to Grand Palace in Bangkok. We had our lunch at local hawker just outside Wat Chalong. We ordered noodles soup to fill our stomach. (taste just like in Bangkok)

We reached Phuket town at 4:00pm. According to some LYN forumer, they said Phuket town has a better offer for souvenir than in Patong. This is the main reason why we were here. We thought to have a good price here but unfortunately, the price here is rather stiff and only bares a minimum price bargain. The people here are a little less friendly than in Patong. We visited a few streets before getting lost in the town. It's getting dark at 7:00pm and while looking at the map on hand, a local guy came to us and offers us for a help. He assist us the direction to Patong and we followed his direction but it came to a part where we decided to follow the road sign rather than his direction. Anyway, thumbs up for his kind gesture for helping us.

We reached our Club Coconut Resort around 8:00pm. We took a bath are later head to Patong road for seafood dinner at Cocoanut Restaurant. We ordered tiger prawn, a steam fish (quite big), oyster Thai salad, coconut milk Tom Yum Kung, and coconut shake. Damn satisfied with the meal and all this cost us 1200 baht. Their service is excellent from the moment you step in their restaurant. After we paid our bill, almost all their worker thanks us and one even lead us across the busy road. We spend about an hour looking and buying souvenir for our dear friends and colleague in Malaysia. When we go back to the place where we park our bike (in front of Cocoanut Restaurant) the worker came out and wipe the bike seat for us as it was raining earlier. He even pushes the bike out, start it for us and open road at the busy street for us to ride out. We are damn 'paiseh' and awkward at that time. I dun remember having this kind of service quality anywhere before. This is superb!

P/S: The close up shot picture coming to the fish part is totally drops as I am struggling with my concentration versus my saliva. Lol. So no close up shot for the steam fish.
We hunted for more souvenirs at Patong main road beach before calling it a day at 1:30am. Today journey of discovery Phuket is a success and simply amazing. Thumbs up for both of us. Oh yeah, my exposed skin totally burnout. I didn’t feel hot while riding bike and only get to know the red burn skin when came back to the resort. The sun is much stronger than we might think. So do remember to use sun block.
